Plushie Dreadfuls - Ouchie

$ 45.00
Your life story reads like a WebMD entry - one that would send most people into a panic attack: Aches, pains, nausea, vomiting, on and on. But you've become so good at dealing with the pain that others have a difficult time believing how bad it really is. And it is bad... but it's not just the pain. It's the constant, exhausting worry - especially in those rare moments that the pain subsides - of what tomorrow has in store. Certainly more of the same. Maybe something new and worse?

A whole life planned around illness, medication, and treatment. An endless cycle others can only glimpse in flashes while you remain fully immersed with little hope for escape. But despite all this, you bandage yourself up, grit your teeth and keep going.

And in the midst of it all, you take a certain solitary pride in your ability to endure. You might not look it - and you certainly don't feel it - but you're tough.

Even the toughest among us can use a companion who understands. Someone with a shared experience and a couple of aches and pains of their own.

IMPORTANT NOTE Regarding the design of our mental health-related Plushie Dreadfuls. We take the topics of mental health and mental health awareness seriously. That's why our design team only creates plushies related to mental health issues with which they have direct experience. In cases where our team does not have direct experience, we assemble an external team of experts to help guide our creative process. In addition, we use Crowd Design to engage a wide range of voices via platforms like Instagram and Facebook. We gather and respond to feedback from our audience - many of whom have direct experience with the mental health issues we're exploring. And while we strive to represent as many aspects of a particular mental health issue as possible while avoiding stereotypical symptoms, we hope you understand that plush toys as an artistic medium do limit the full expression of a particular issue to those things that can be crafted in fabric and stitching.

Just as expected!

Ouchie arrived! Well, this Ouchie’s name is Coret :) and she’s a girl. I identified with her right away both from her appearance and from the description. I have battled with a genetic disorder and disability since birth but didn’t get diagnosed until I was 29 years old. I’ve spent a great deal of my time in clinics and hospitals, so when I saw Ouchie I immediately felt drawn to her. She brings out nurturing feelings in me. I just knew I had to have her.

Ouchie seems to be of very good quality, very well made. Despite her injured appearance (due to being covered in bandages), she’s not fragile at all and I feel comfortable interacting with her without any concern that I could damage her. I LOVE that her fur is super soft, particularly her ears and extremities. The eye bandage is non-removable, for anyone who’s wondering, though you can remove it easily by undoing the stitch there is only one stitch that holds it in place on each side so if you wanted to I believe you could easily remove it without damaging the plushie, if you want to for some reason. Also, I wish her belly was a little squishier, it’s a bit too firm for my taste, but maybe that’s just one of her many medical afflictions, haha.

The only downside was the delivery time. I live in New England. I ordered August 23rd and she arrived September 9th. However on that same day I also ordered other plushie dreadfuls and two of those arrived much earlier and through a new different partner that they have and they…

Best

I love it! Ouchie is so soft and cute and I feel like I have something to feel relatable with because I have fibromyalgia and there’s really nothing out there in plushies. So it’s nice to find this and have this.
